The Online Elementary Reading Academy takes the best of CORE’s Teaching Reading Sourcebook and Assessing Reading: Multiple Measures, and packages them into an online, asynchronous, 7-module professional development course. Using these textbooks as a foundation, the Online Elementary Reading Academy teaches about reading assessment and the five critical components of reading instruction and offers clear and explicit teaching models to help educators help all students, including those with word-reading difficulties such as dyslexia, grow to be strong readers.
CORE’s Online Elementary Reading Academy can help you fulfill Oregon’s requirement that at least one K-5 teacher per building completes dyslexia-related training. Our Online Elementary Reading Academy has been approved by ODE to address the following two focus areas: Understanding and Recognizing Dyslexia (URD) and Foundational Skills in Reading (FSR).
