Remote Professional Learning Services

Build Instructional Skills & Capacity from a Distance

How instruction is delivered has changed dramatically this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic but the foundations of effective teaching remain the same. Whether your school is providing instruction in person, remotely or using a hybrid approach, remote professional learning is a flexible, accessible way to build teachers’ knowledge and skills. CORE provides remote support to implement high-quality curriculum, evidence-based instruction and effective assessment practices. We offer a wide range of remote literacy and math workshops and courses along with remote consulting and coaching services to help school leaders and teachers support the learning needs of all students.

Remote Consulting Services

10 hours of consulting completely customized to your team's specifics needs

From transitioning to strong remote instruction to improving the use of data to drive instructional decisions, CORE Educational Consultants will work with your team to address your site’s specific goals, challenges and capacity building needs around English Language Arts or mathematical curriculum implementation and effective instruction. Remote consulting is offered in blocks of 10 hours as a stand-alone service or can be packaged with any of our workshops. Choose from our selection of consulting services or customize the time with your CORE Educational Consultant to focus on your unique areas of need. Consulting time with a CORE Educational Consultant can be a great way to support coaches, principals and/or teachers in monthly sessions unpacking your curriculum or data.

Systems Level Collaborative
Planning & Support

Remote site support sessions are crucial planning opportunities to identify specific implementation issues and plan for organization, resources, and support needs. A CORE Educational Consultant initiates or reviews your comprehensive school or district literacy and/or mathematics plan, including organization of instruction, implementation of a multi-tiered model, student grouping, time allocations, materials, personnel usage, and planned staff development. Collaborative planning can focus on the needs of underrepresented students in literacy and math and students with special needs, including students with dyslexia. This service includes how to deliver services remotely.

Coach or Teacher Leader Support and Capacity Building

A CORE Consultant works with local coaches (and other teacher leaders) to provide remote and face-to-face support for teachers. The CORE Consultant will collaborate with coaches prior to sessions with teachers, review the purpose and plan for actions, include the coach in sessions with teachers, debrief with coaches after sessions with teachers and plan follow-up. As the coaches model lessons, observe and debrief teachers, conduct data study sessions, and analyze test data, the CORE Consultant provides feedback and mentoring. The CORE Consultant also assists the coaches to facilitate collaborative conversations and develop solutions to curriculum implementation challenges. The goal is to build the expertise of coaches and teacher leaders.

Remote Data Study

Regular use of assessment data can make planning for instruction and intervention dramatically more effective. A CORE Consultant provides assistance in the use of assessment instruments, even remotely, including screening, progress-monitoring, diagnostic, and outcome measures. The CORE Consultant will address both Curriculum Based Measures (CBM) and curriculum-embedded assessments. Through remote meetings, the CORE Consultant works closely with site administrators, curriculum specialists, coaches, and teachers to show them how to analyze the data to: (a) plan student groupings for core instruction and specific interventions; (b) set goals for student growth; and (c) determine the effectiveness of the instruction.  This data study will be integral to special education and IEP goal setting.

Remote Lesson Study

A CORE Consultant works with groups of teachers to deepen understanding through focused work on one or more key English Language Arts and mathematical lessons. Specifically, participants will co-plan, observe each other teaching a lesson, take focused notes on the instruction, and then debrief and refine the lesson.

Classroom & Special Education Teacher Coaching

A CORE Educational Consultant works with individuals or small groups of teachers to provide coaching on implementing effective instructional techniques remotely. The working sessions can be structured in one of three ways.

  1. CORE Consultants work with teachers to plan how to deliver units and lessons effectively remotely, provide models of instruction, and resolve implementation issues.
  2. CORE Consultants utilize remote observation and feedback. Remote observation may occur live or via the teacher voluntarily recording video footage during virtual or in class student instruction and submitting that to the CORE consultant for review. The CORE Consultant then meets remotely with the teacher (s) to discuss feedback and next steps. FERPA regulations will be closely adhered to. Other district/school participants can participate for collaborative discussions and feedback.
  3. A CORE Consultant  teaches a small group of students remotely while others observe. This is done using your own curriculum

CORE is a reseller of the digiCOACH internet-based coaching platform and can use it to facilitate effective remote teacher coaching. In addition to the CORE digiCOACH content editions, the new digiCOACH Remote Learning Edition supports what to look for in effective remote instruction. Learn more.

Leadership Coaching

The CORE Consultant provides personal and collaborative coaching sessions to school administrators that combine professional development with a discussion of instructional materials. The leadership coaching can focus on an analysis of remote visits to selected classrooms to monitor curriculum and instruction implementation. The CORE Consultant works closely with site administrators to ensure they understand how the instructional program is designed, what effective implementation of a core curriculum and supplemental intervention programs looks like, and how to use observation data to leverage improved achievement. Through regular facilitated remote sessions, the CORE Consultant supports the site leadership to have the knowledge, tools, and confidence to lead sustained literacy and mathematics improvement efforts.

Curriculum Routine Review

CORE’s curriculum specialists have expertise in many commercial English Language Arts and mathematical core and supplemental curricula. These sessions focus on critical program routines and can be provided to small and larger groups even remotely based on the school/district’s adopted curricula. As another option, the CORE Consultant can provide a customized review and refresher training for teachers new to a district adopted program.

Remote Professional Learning Courses & Workshops

Help teachers learn evidence-based practices to strengthen math and ELA instruction whether it is delivered in person or remotely.

CORE’s well known and respected math and ELA workshops and courses are now available in a remote learning format. Just like during our on-site courses, CORE Educational Consultants provide personalized, interactive sessions that deepen educators’ knowledge and help them apply concepts to their practice.

Our remote synchronous courses are generally conducted using Zoom in 75-90 minute sessions over several days. The course schedule is customized to accommodate your needs and to make learning accessible and manageable for educators. Workshops and courses can be bundled with our remote consulting services to provide additional support for participants.

We also offer an asynchronous, facilitated Online Elementary Academy that enables teachers to learn on their time at their own pace over seven to 10 weeks. Coming later this fall, we will launch an asynchronous, facilitated Online Math Academy—Fractions.

Remote training in the implementation of Center for the Collaborative Classroom’s Systematic Instruction in Phonological Awareness, Phonics, and Sight Words (SIPPS) and other ELA and math curricula is available to teach educators how to deliver the programs effectively to students in remote and in-person learning environments.
