Melanie Watkins

M.S., Educational Consultant — Literacy TK-8

Melanie Watkins is an Educational Services Consultant at CORE. Melanie currently serves as a Literacy Academic Content Liaison (ACL) with an urban school district in Maryland servicing students and educators in grades K-12. As a Literacy ACL, Melanie provides differentiated support to schools in the areas of planning, standards aligned instruction, data analysis, and research based instructional strategies. She also develops and facilitates professional development at both the school and district level.

Melanie’s educational career spans 20 years during which she has served in multiple roles. These roles include classroom teacher, school-based coach, and district level coach. Melanie received her B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Kent State University and her M.S. in Human Resource Development: Educational Leadership from Towson University. Melanie’s daily work is centered on providing historically marginalized students with instruction which is grade level, engaging, affirming, meaningful and builds on their current funds of knowledge. In her spare time, Melanie enjoys spending time with family and traveling.
