Brittany Cufaude’s journey in education spans over 18 years, reflecting her unwavering commitment to fostering social justice in educational spaces. She commenced this critical work by teaching English to women and children at the Walnut Avenue Women’s Shelter in Santa Cruz, CA. Later, she transitioned to teaching Kindergarten dual immersion in Watsonville, CA, continually amplifying her passion for equity in education.

The majority of her service years were dedicated to teaching ELA, intensive reading interventions, and ELD in the Folsom Cordova Unified School District in Sacramento, CA. Here, her educational leadership flourished as she directed diverse intervention programs, significantly enhancing students’ reading outcomes, and spearheaded literacy initiatives. Subsequently, she assumed the role of District Lead Teacher, making substantial contributions to K-12 programs, CCSS, CA ELA/ELD Framework rollouts, guiding ELA program pilots and adoptions, and fostering positive school cultures through facilitating the PLC process.

In 2017, she embarked on her tenure as National Literacy Consultant at Benchmark Education, guiding K-5 adoptions of Benchmark Advance and Adelante. Her expertise played a pivotal role in navigating new curricula aligned with Common Core standards and the CA ELD/ELD Framework, all while delivering critical professional learning. In 2018, Brittany assumed the role of Regional Coach for the CALI Reads SPDG grant, leading northern California middle schools in improving adolescent literacy outcomes until 2022.

Currently, as the Director of Content for CORE Learning, Brittany continues to display adaptability and strong leadership qualities. She developed professional learning modules for LAUSD teachers and administrators, consistently achieving unprecedented participant satisfaction rates. Additionally, her leadership in content development for CORE’s OERA refresh 1.0 underscores her influential role in shaping educational content.
