With help from CORE, Washington Elementary School in Lamar, Colorado, has made significant gains in reading achievement. Hear from the school’s principal and teachers about how CORE professional learning gave them the knowledge, skills and confidence to incorporate evidence-based practices into instruction, and, in turn, improve reading achievement.
After three years of partnering with CORE and implementing instructional practices grounded in the science of reading, Washington Elementary School improved its reading scores from 32% of students “Well Below Benchmark” on DIBELS and 20% “Below Benchmark,” to only 8% “Well Below Benchmark” and 8% “Below Benchmark.” The number of students now meeting “Benchmark” is an impressive 84%.
