Namsey Bridgeford

Educational Consultant — Literacy, K–6

Namsey Bridgeford is an Educational Services Specialist with CORE. She is currently working toward a Ph.D. in Education.and e-Learning at North Central University. This fall, Namsey will defend her doctoral dissertation, which investigates the relationships between foundational reading skills development and inequitable home Internet access on the Navajo Nation. Namsey holds two bachelor’s degrees in Social Sciences and in Elementary Education. She received her master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and PK-12 Special Education from Northern Arizona University, which included a concentration in Early Literacy.

Having worked in education since 1992, Namsey has been a general education teacher, a special education teacher, instructional coach, administrator, and a reading specialist. She has led numerous teacher trainings and district-level committees, as well as serving as district literacy and English language services coordinator. For the past 10 years, she has worked as a K-5 reading specialist on the Navajo Nation in Northeastern Arizona, where she also led her school district in the evaluation and transformation of their MTSS and reading intervention programs.

Namsey believes that reading is a right and that all students should have access to high quality reading instruction. Her expertise is in specialized instruction for struggling readers.
