Kim Menard

M.S., Educational Consultant — Literacy, K-12

Kim Menard is an Educational Services Consultant with CORE. She is passionate about literacy achievement and understands the sense of urgency to increase and support reading proficiency. She has been in education for over 25 years in multiple positions. Her roles have varied from elementary classroom teacher, intensive reading interventionist, NAEP assessment administrator, instructional literacy coach, university adjunct instructor, Florida reading endorsement instructor and district secondary reading specialist. Through experiencing these vast and changing platforms, she firmly believes that all children can learn to read. Instructional practices, implementation and presentations may vary, but starting with a strong instructional foundation that is based on the science of reading, and supporting teachers with purposeful and authentic coaching practices and mentorship, sets the stage for lifelong learning and quickly moves students from learning to read to reading to learn.

Kim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the State University of New York at Cortland and a Master of Science degree in Reading Education from Syracuse University. She has experience in literacy curriculum writing, planning, instruction, and assessment across all levels. Kim works closely with district and school level administrators and coaches to deepen their understanding of evidence-based instructional practices aligned with the Science of Reading. In 2014, she won Seminole County Public School’s Instructional Literacy Coach of the Year award.
Kim lives in Oviedo, Florida with her husband Bill. They have two adult children who attend the University of Central Florida and Florida State University. Her passion is spending time traveling with her family.
