However, proficiency with fractions has been shown to be vital for success with more complex mathematics, such as algebra. The CORE Online Math Academy courses provide the opportunity to build your understanding of teaching and learning fractions. During these highly interactive online courses, you will gain the understanding necessary to deliver evidence-based instruction that develops mathematical proficiency with fractions. This close examination of the Number-Operations-Fraction domain will increase your expertise and confidence in leading students to a deep understanding of fractions.

You may take either course whenever they are offered. They do not need to be taken sequentially, and you are not required to take both courses, though taking both will provide you with comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of teaching fractions.

Who should attend

This course is for individuals or teams of elementary educators who want to learn effective standards-aligned and research-based practices for the teaching and learning of fractions for all learners. Participants are expected to have regular access to computers with an Internet connection and proficiency with email and current internet browsers.

There are no required materials for the course. All necessary materials are provided within the course.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Fee per course

The standard cost of either fractions course is $190 per participant. The pilot that starts April 15 is being offered for $90 per participant, per course. That’s more than a 50% savings! A certificate of completion citing 16 hours of professional development time devoted to study will be provided at the end of each course. Graduate continuing education credit is available for an additional fee.

Group discounts are not available for the pilot.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Custom cohorts

Graduate continuing education credit option

Participants may receive one (1) graduate-level semester extension unit for an additional cost of $109 per course. Units are typically used for salary advancement. There are no additional requirements beyond successful completion of the course. Participants may register and pay for this unit once the course has started.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Refund information

A full refund of registration fees is available for cancellations 30 days or more prior to the course start date. A 50% refund is available for cancellations less than 30 days but more than 14 days prior to course start date.
