Washington Elementary School’s goal was to ensure students were achieving as much as they possibly could in the area of reading, and found success with the evidence-based instructional practices taught in CORE’s Reading Academy.
After three years of partnering with CORE and implementing instructional strategies grounded in the science of reading, Washington Elementary School improved its reading scores from 32% of students “Well Below Benchmark” on DIBELS and 20% “Below Benchmark,” to only 8% “Well Below Benchmark” and 8% “Below Benchmark.” The number of students now meeting “Benchmark” is an impressive 84%.
