Lois Ballard-Stephenson

Lois Ballard-Stephenson is an Educational Services Consultant for CORE. Lois has more than 29 years of experience in public education. She earned her teaching credentials from Seattle Pacific University and completed a Masters of Ed. In Curriculum and Instruction with a reading emphasis from City University. In addition, Lois obtained both her Masters of Ed. in Leadership and Administration as well as her Superintendent Credentials through the University of Alaska system. Her experience includes work as an intermediate teacher, instructional coach, school site administrator (prek-12) and a district level administrator to provide support, coaching and professional development to a variety of employee groups.

Lois is a resolute educational professional who is passionate about helping students, staff, and colleagues reach their full potential. She can create systemic approaches to transform educational environments and increase student engagement and rigor in all classrooms. She is knowledgeable in the Science of Reading and knows how to plan and implement an effective sustainable MTSS/RTI system. Her experience working with Indigenous populations in Rural Alaska and economically diverse schools both in Washington State and Texas have helped build a bridge of understanding between culture and learning. Using both research-based and evidence-based instructional strategies to enhance reading instruction and intervention for all students is her commitment of her work throughout her career regardless of her title or position.
