Ayanna Dupree
Educational Consultant — Literacy, K-6
Ayanna Dupree is an Educational Service Consultant with CORE. She is a native of Oakland, California with over 25 years of experience as an educator in the Oakland Unified School District. Ayanna began her educational career working in OUSD’s Child Development Centers during her summers while attending Grambling State University. While at Grambling, she earned a B.S. in Elementary Education. Ayanna later earned her teaching credential from Pattern University in Oakland, California.
In 1997, Ayanna began her classroom career as a 4th grade teacher and then a 2nd grade teacher. About six years ago, Ayanna began working as a Teacher on Special Assignment and then became an Early Literacy Coach primarily supporting K-3 teachers and their students with foundational skills instruction primarily using SIPPS and Heggerty. In this role, she led numerous professional development sessions, observed and provided feedback, and attended numerous professional development trainings to build her capacity as an Early Literacy Coach. More recently her work with literacy has expanded to support upper grade teachers and students with foundational skills using SIPPS.
Through this role she has developed an even stronger passion for early literacy and literacy instruction as she has seen students become more fluent and confident readers with consistent differentiated instruction.
