Online Elementary Reading Academy
The Right Choice for Dyslexia-Related Training

CORE’s Online Elementary Reading Academy can help you fulfill Oregon’s requirement that at least one K-5 teacher per building complete dyslexia-related training. Our Online Elementary Reading Academy has been approved by ODE to address the following two focus areas: Understanding and Recognizing Dyslexia (URD) and Foundational Skills in Reading (FSR).

In addition to providing an introduction to dyslexia and highlighting evidence-based practices to systematically and explicitly teach the foundational skills of reading, the Online Elementary Reading Academy satisfies every criteria for effective professional learning. When you enroll you and your team in the Online Elementary Reading Academy, you receive:

  • 7 highly engaging modules based on the science of reading that teach the 5 essential components of reading instruction
  • Guidance on how to identify the warning signs of dyslexia
  • Evidence-based instructional practices to prevent reading difficulty
  • CORE’s nationally acclaimed textbooks, Teaching Reading Sourcebook and Assessing Reading: Multiple Measures
  • Clear and explicit instructional models immediately applicable in the classroom

Register for a National Online Elementary Reading Academy

The next national sessions of the Online Elementary Reading Academy start July 23, Sept. 17 and Oct. 22. 

If you would like to host your own cohort of 15 or more educators from your district, contact events@corelearn.com or call (510) 540-4200 ext. 4. You will be allowed to choose the start dates and cohort lengths that work best for your team, and you’ll receive a dedicated course facilitator. We also offer a six-day in-person Reading Academy that is held at your site. Both the in-person and Online Elementary Reading Academy are approved for dyslexia-related training.
