What is the Online Elementary Reading Academy?

The Online Elementary Reading Academy takes the best of CORE’s nationally acclaimed textbooks, the new Teaching Reading Sourcebook, 3rd edition  and recently revised Assessing Reading: Multiple Measures, and packages them into a ten week, seven session asynchronous online course. The course teaches educators the essential components of reading instruction, based on the science of reading, with clear and explicit models immediately applicable in the classroom. What can I expect to learn in the Online Elementary Reading Academy?

The Online Elementary Reading Academy consists of seven sessions completed over 10 weeks. Complete each session on your own time, when it’s most convenient to you. Sessions cover specific skills and instructional strategies educators can apply to help all students set strong foundations for reading success. Specific topics discussed include:   

  1. Module 1 – Orientation
  2. Module 2 – The Structure of Language
  3. Module 3 – Phonemic Awareness, Explicit Phonics Instruction and Irregular Word Reading
  4. Module 4 – Multisyllabic Word Reading and Fluency
  5. Module 5 – Vocabulary
  6. Module 6 – Comprehension
  7. Module 7 – Reading Assessment for Effective Instruction

What is the cost for attending OERA?

Course fees are $600 per participant and may be eligible for ESSER funding to overcome learning loss. Fees include the acclaimed Teaching Reading Sourcebook and Assessing Reading: Multiple Measures textbooks and all other course materials.

Discounts are available for groups of 114 or more. You may register up to 75 people online. If you wish to register more than 75 people, please contact events@corelearn.com or call 888.249.6155 ext. 4.

1-14 people: $600/pp
15-30 people: $580/pp
31-60 people: $560/pp
61+ people: $550/pp

Class section minimum of 20, not to exceed 30.

Participants may receive three (3) graduate level semester extension units for an additional cost of $327. These units are typically used for salary advancement. There are no additional requirements beyond successful completion of the course for a total of 45 hours.
