Move All Students Toward Reading Proficiency

Washington Elementary School in Lamar, Colorado, made significant gains in reading achievement by working with CORE to support their English Language Arts professional learning. Not only did student scores improve, but CORE has also helped strengthen school culture around literacy instruction.

After just three years of partnering with CORE and implementing instructional best practices, Washington Elementary School improved its reading scores from 32 percent of students “Well Below Benchmark” on DIBELS and 20 percent “Below Benchmark” to only 8 percent “Well Below Benchmark” and 8 percent “Below Benchmark.” The number of students meeting “Benchmark” is an impressive 84 percent.
