Improve Literacy Outcomes for All Students

The goal of Michigan’s Essential Instructional Practices in Early Literacy: Grades K to 3 is to ensure that research-supported instructional practices are used in every classroom, everyday. Yet teachers are not always prepared to implement these practices. For more than 26 years CORE has worked with districts and schools to develop teacher capacity to deliver high-quality, comprehensive literacy instruction based on the science of reading.

We provide:

  • Assistance with the evaluation, selection and implementation of standards-based ELA curriculum
  • On-site and online training in reading foundational skills based on the science of reading, including specific instructional strategies for English language learners and students with dyslexia
  • Modeling and coaching for teachers to help them strengthen and refine their instructional skills
  • Support to design and implement multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS)

Achieve Extraordinary Gains in Literacy Achievement

CORE helps educators develop their instructional skills so that all students can become strong readers

Take a look at how working with CORE helped Washington Elementary School (Lamar, CO) teachers improve reading scores from 32% well below benchmark to 84% of students meeting benchmark.

Santa Ana Unified School District (CA), a district where 65% of students are English learners, has partnered with CORE since the 2015-16 school year to help all students reach reading proficiency by third grade. Through coaching and lesson modeling with teachers to improve instructional effectiveness, Santa Ana students are increasingly reaching DIBELS reading benchmarks.
