What can I expect to learn in the Online Elementary Reading Academy?
The Online Elementary Reading Academy consists of seven modules completed over 10 weeks. Complete each session on your own time, when it’s most convenient to you. Sessions cover specific skills and instructional strategies educators can apply to help all students set strong foundations for reading success. Specific topics discussed include:
Module 1 – Orientation
Module 2 – The Structure of Language
Module 3 – Phonemic Awareness, Explicit Phonics Instruction and Irregular Word Reading
Module 4 – Multisyllabic Word Reading and Fluency
Module 5 – Vocabulary
Module 6 – Comprehension
Module 7 – Reading Assessment for Effective Instruction
The cost for attendance is $600 per participant and fees include all materials, including the nationally recognized textbooks Teaching Reading Sourcebook and Assessing Reading: Multiple Measures.

Additional fees apply to educators earning college credit and vary depending on the type of credit earned.
Participants may receive 3 graduate-level semester extension units for an additional cost of $300. These units are typically used for salary advancement. There are no additional requirements beyond successful completion of the course for a total of 45 hours.
Or, participants may receive 3 graduate credits for an additional cost of $650. Requirements include successful completion of the course and completion of additional assignments for a total of 135 hours.
