Elementary Literacy
Implementation Audits and Needs Assessments
The purpose of an Implementation Audit or Needs Assessment is to take the pulse of a literacy implementation in a districtwide setting. Classroom observation is used to calibrate the status of program implementation and identify any emerging issues.
Participant Outcomes:
- Quantify effectiveness of your reading implementation.
- Plan solutions as issues emerge.
Levels: K–12
Audience: Principals, teacher leaders, and coaches
Format: Conducted by CORE Consultants alongside district and school administrators and coaches. Following these visits, findings are presented to site and district leadership. The district selects the schools to be visited and notifies the staff in advance. A minimum of three visits is advised for ongoing evaluation. An initial needs assessment/audit can require 2–7 days depending on the size of the district/school, program levels, and distances between and among sites, followed by data analysis and report writing.
