Implementation Resources
Program Resource Packet Multiple Text Book Series
The textbook publishers have done a wonderful job developing research-based materials to support effective reading instruction. And schools are working hard to implement these new reading programs. However, implementing these programs can be a challenging task. In order to assist with this job, CORE developed a Program Resource Packet (PRP) for each of a growing number of widely used basal textbook series. The PRP contains resources aligned to the program that can be used by administrators, coaches, and classroom teachers in many CORE services related to publisher program implementation.
CORE currently offers elementary PRPs for the following (click on the textbook series to preview sample pages):
- Harcourt Collections (2002)
- Harcourt StoryTown (2008)
- Harcourt Trophies (2003, 2005)
- Houghton Mifflin Reading (2003, 2005)
- Imagine It! (2008)
- Macmillan/McGraw-Hill Treasures (2008)
- McGraw-Hill Reading (2005)
- Open Court Reading (2002, 2005)
- Scott Foresman Reading Street (2007, 2008)
PRPs contain the following implementation tools specifically written for that program:
- Ten- to 15-minute walk-through classroom observation forms to help administrators and coaches quickly gauge the implementation level of the program materials and instructional needs. Classroom teachers can also use these forms.
- Specific grade-by-grade observation checklists for more detailed classroom observation.
- Assessment and pacing guide to be used by administrators, coaches, and teachers to develop a school assessment plan using the program assessment resources and to lay out a pacing calendar to align instruction testing.
- Selected routines that can assist you with program implementation, including a small-group instruction planner to be used by all staff.
The PRP is designed to be used throughout the school year and build the literacy team’s capacity to serve all students by using program materials to their fullest potential.
Available in electronic format.

Testimonials
"The service provided by your staff consultant has been extremely important to our program's improvement. Without her knowledge, expertise, and gentle leadership, we would not be in the positive place that we are today. We are looking forward to working with her again next school year."
– Robert P. Zaccaria, Program Specialist,
Seba Dalkai Boarding School, AZ
"CORE has provided a framework of thinking about literacy. With the development of common language, teachers and students are talking the 'same language.' The coaching for the principal who is 'coachable' is phenomenal and has the potential to move a leader to the next level."
– Sheila Smith-Anderson, Executive Director of Leadership Development,
St. Louis Public Schools, MO
